The Security Council will hold its annual open debate on children and armed conflict on the theme “Reasserting international legal protections for children in armed conflict: strengthening the protection of education and the prevention of grave violations”.
Colombia, Council President for June, has prepared a concept note to guide the discussion.
Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Vanessa Frazier will present the Secretary-General’s annual report on the subject S/2026/357.
Briefings are also expected from UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) Executive Director Catherine Russell and a youth civil society representative.
