Energy Information Administration highlights the significant impact of the United Arab Emirates’ departure from OPEC.

The withdrawal is expected to reduce the organization’s total share of global crude oil production from 35 percent to 31 percent.

When considering the expanded OPEC+ alliance, the UAE's exit lowers that group's market share from approximately 46 percent to 42 percent.

Historically, the UAE was the third-largest producer within the bloc, maintaining a capacity of 4.2 million barrels daily.

The regional energy landscape is further complicated by ongoing conflict in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has led to massive supply disruptions.

While Saudi Arabia remains the most dominant member, the loss of Emirati output diminishes the collective influence of the group.

Notably, only Saudi Arabia and the UAE possess the infrastructure necessary to reroute oil exports to bypass the strategic and currently blocked maritime waterway.
